Last year I fell in love with a Starbucks drink called Caramel Apple Spice. Oh my!!!! It is like a little slice of heaven. Close your eyes and imagine a warm apple pie with whipped topping and caramel syrup drizzled on top. You are sitting in your favorite comfy chair with a blanket over your legs (feet propped up) a fire blazing and this drink in your hands. Oh and you can imagine that the kids are with Grandma for the day. ;)
I last year I started a new tradition. At Thanksgiving I made these for dessert. It was the new favorite for just about everybody. If you like spiced cider, whipped cream and caramel then you will LOVE this.
We also served this at Erika’s baby shower last December. We dubbed it “Apple pie in a Cup.”
Ingredients:
Cinnamon syrup (You can buy it from Starbucks)
Apple juice or Apple cider
Whipped cream
Carmel syrup drizzled on top
Directions:
Pour Apple Juice or Apple Cider into your mug and stir in about 1 teaspoon of the Cinnamon syrup. Heat in the microwave to desired temperature. Top with whipped cream and drizzle caramel syrup on top. Enjoy!

By the way Starbucks does sell the syrup in a sugar free version. You can also get the caramel in sugar free too.
They have it on their menu in the fall and winter months so you should be able to get the syrup now.

Anjeanette here. Oh my! This is HEAVEN in a mug. I wanted to point out that you can do this for a bunch of people. When Katrina did this for Erika's shower, she put the cinnamon syrup and the apple cider in a crock pot to warm. Then serve individual servings, add the whipped cream and drizzle the caramel sauce on top. While you are at it, serve up another one and enjoy it for me. Sadly I can't have them anymore. Now I am going to curl up and cry. This is THAT good!

Oh Tina! When I made this for my post I made it cold because it was 100 outside and I didn't need warming up. It was still yummy. However I like it better warm. The whipped cream and caramel does not mix in the same when it is cold but still yummy non-the-less.
I bet it would taste just as good with a scoop of vanilla icecream. A la mode style!

I was a Barista for five years and this is one of my fave drinks. You can request it year round by the way- it is only on the menu board during the fall and winter months though. If you cannot get the syrup you can use Celestial Seasonings Apple Spice tea. Steep tea bags in apple juice or cider that has just come to a boil, remove from heat, let stand for 10 minutes. Remove tea bags and proceed with instructions as stated. It is even better if you make your own whipped cream. Starbucks whipped cream is one shot glass of vanilla syrup top 16 oz of whipping cream, charged with CO2. You can make it up at home with vanilla extract and simple syrup in your mixer if you do not have one of those fancy whipped cream canisters.

Another recipe but a cold version: 2 qt vanilla container, 1 gallon fresh cider, honey or caramel sauce, ground cinnamon or apple pie spice. You can make this in individual servings or large punch bowl, but as the ice cream melts into the cider it becomes creamy, drizzle honey/warm caramel to taste and sprinkle with cinnamon/apple pie spice. If making single servings, you want to follow the method for making a float. But it is at its absolute best if the ice cream has started to soften. Any remainder can be poured back into the gallon container and refrigerated. YUM in a cup.
