9/11

Thrifty Decor Chick posted this today.  You must check it out!

I am not a New Yorker, and have never been to New York.  However, I am an American.  That day I was glued to my TV, and really, I was glued to my TV for the next week.  I couldn’t stop watching.  It felt like a nightmare, not reality.  I still have such strong emotions about that day.  I am so sorry for all those lives we lost.  Not just the American lives, but all the lives.  I am so thankful for all those men and women that risked their lives to save others!  I am so thankful for all the men and women who continue to risk their lives for my freedoms!

One thing this day also brings up for me is not just terrorism and sadness.  I also had such strong emotions about how wonderful people are.  There were so many heroic things happening during that day and as a result of that day.  I always want to think more about how good people really are.  We have to think about how we are being a part of that goodness.  We have to have hope.

Oh - so lovely to see this post! I was in UK with a small child. I remember my husband ringing from work, telling me to turn the tv on because a client had said something had happened. I turned on to watch the first tower on fire and sat there while the second plane hit. I remember going out later in the day (to the supermarket!) and looking at people who were not reacting at all - I was shocked by these people continuing their lives when so many had lost theirs.
I am so cross with people who want to perpetuate the anger and hatred. And so grateful to all those who work to help us and work for peace.

A lovely post. And a gentle reminder to think of the goodness in people that was also rampant that day. With all the attention New York has been getting lately about the controversial Islamic Center I've almost forgotten where my focus needed to be. Thank you.

Thank you, for directing me to this post, cried my eyes out.
@ Ruthie, People are strange we assume everyone is like ourselves and when they're not it stuns us (Well it does me, think I'm too naive)

I'm Scottish and will remember that day as long as I live I was at work at that time worked in the community and Phoned my boss to say I was finishing early. I went to my parents house and we all sat there in disbelief tears running down our faces. Nothing seemed normal for such a long time.
We should not and I'm sure will never forget.
