Cool Stool! A no sew remake!

This before shot doesn't even give it justice! I didn't take a picture of the before until after I had already painted the stool black. Oops. This stool started out as a container that a bunch of wooden toys came in. Then, I recovered it (probably 7 years ago). It's been through many lives with us. I refinished it when my girl's were just babies (and I had no Son). So, it was pink and white and eyelet trim. As I took this apart I realized I had done a new sew remake on this already. I even used posterboard for the underneath side of the lid (the posterboard was covered in matching pink material) and just hot glued the sucker together! I had painted it white and stamped pink flowers all over it. Well, for the last 2 years or so it has just been our bathroom step stool. It totally doesn't match and as you saw it got quite yucky! I'm actually embarrassed to show how bad it was! We've been storing our dry swimsuits in it for awhile now, yet the kids always ask where their swimsuits are. I thought it was time to just redo the thing! Since not all my kids read, the label had to have pictures, and I wanted it to match our bathroom colors, and be cute. That's not too much to ask of a lowly toy box turned step stool is it?
We have a curtain separating our bathroom from our closet. We had one of the panels left from the package that I've been holding onto for...? I knew it was the time to whip that thing out! So, I painted the bottom of the stool black (we have other features in the bathroom that are black), recovered the top in the matching material (using one of the tabs from the top of the curtain to use as a handle to access the storage part of the stool), and then added a label and pictures that I cut out and then ran through my xyron. If you saw closer you would see I used a cute patterned paper that is beachy and the same colors as the curtain! I also shalacked the stool to seal the labels onto it. I love how it turned out. The kids were excited when they saw the swimsuit cut outs that I made!

Wow, really inginuative! I like the little tab for easy access.

And thanks a lot for the sweet comment! It perked up my morning quite a bit and I'm excited to continue hearing from both of you :).
